தாமரையும் கழுநீரும் அல்ல!
இறைவன் விரும்புவது – பக்தனின் அடிவருட்பத்தி (கூப்பிய கைகளால் கூடி வழிபடும் பக்தியின் மலர்).

சங்கீதம் (இசை) நிறைந்த பொன் போன்ற கொன்றையா? அல்லது இவ்வுலகில் இல்லாத கற்பக மரத்தின் பூவா?
துன்பங்களை பொறுத்து நிற்கும் (வாடாமல் நிற்கும்) முனிவர்களுக்கேற்ற மலர் எது?
கொன்றையும், அரிதாகக் கிடைக்கக் கூடிய பிற மலரும் அல்ல!
இறைவன் விரும்புவது – பக்தர்களின் தூய விசுவாசமும், அர்ப்பணிப்பும் (நாட்டம் மிகுந்த நெய்தல் மலர் – உண்மையான காதல் மற்றும் பக்தி).
முழுமையான அர்த்தம்:
இந்த பாடல் உண்மையான பக்தியின் வடிவத்தை எடுத்துக் காட்டுகிறது. இறைவனுக்கு, கண்ணுக்குத் தோன்றும் மலர்கள் அல்ல, மனதின் தூய்மை, பக்தி, முழுமையான அர்ப்பணிப்பு ஆகியவை தான் உண்மையான மலர்கள்.
